Jatormia the Alien (2nd Grade) |
Return |
By Melanie Johnson
One Halloween night, I was trick or treating when I saw this alien. I knew every kid in the neighborhood but that kid did not look familiar. “What is your name?” I asked. He answered something like Jatormia but I was too far away to be exact. I ran to him and tried to pull off his mask but it would not come off. “Ow!” screamed the unknown kid. Just then he grew two antennae. He looked gross! “AN ALIEN!!” I screamed. Everyone laughed. I ignored them. “Yeah and I’m really Godzilla”, said the neighborhood bully who was dressed as Godzilla. The rest of the night went by fast. The next day, I told my parents about what happened. They, of course, did not believe that the alien was real, but said it was mean to laugh at me. I felt a little better. One winter evening as I watched the white snow come down out the window, a soft knock came on the door. “I’ll get it”, I said to my Mom and Dad. When I opened the door, I saw Jatormia! Only he had grown eyes on his antennae! “I am looking for shelter”, he said. “What are you doing in your Halloween costume at a time like this?” I asked. “I am not wearing a costume!” Jatormia said. “What?” I asked. “I’m real!” he said impatiently. “Okay, let me get this straight. You are an alien?” I said, “Come in, you can live with me. I’ll ask my parents.” My parents said OK and he lived with me. The news spread that there was a real alien from outer space living on Earth. From then on, all the children had a great playmate.
